General Admission Requirements

The East African University strives to admit those applicants who are best prepared to benefit from and contribute to TEAU academic community. Admission specialists will review your application and supporting documentation carefully to assess your overall academic preparation. In evaluating your application, the University will consider the following factors:

  1. Mean Grade scores achieved in High School
  2. Grades earned in core subjects depending on the specific programmes in which you are interested
  3. Additional information provided in support of your application.

Bachelor of Business Management

Admission requirements

Admission to all undergraduate programmes shall be based on merit criteria as determined by the University Senate in line with Commission for University Education guidelines. Admission to undergraduate programmes shall be through:

  1. Direct entry
  2. Diploma entry scheme (from recognized institution)

Requirements for direct entry

The minimum requirement for Direct Entry shall be C+ for 8-4-4 system (KCSE) or its equivalent and a minimum of C in both Mathematics and English. Two principal passes at “A” Level (KACE) and 1 subsidiary pass with a minimum of a credit pass in Mathematics and English at KCSE.

Requirement for Diploma Entry Scheme

The minimum requirement for the Diploma Entry scheme shall be a holder of a Diploma with credit pass or professional certificate in a relevant discipline from a recognized institution. The duration of the diploma must not have been less than one year. Minimum requirement for direct admission to a diploma shall be C-and above or one principal and two subsidiary passes “A” level or its equivalent.

Admission for international students

All international students must meet all the requirements for the programme. They must have all their academic qualifications equated by the Kenya National Qualification Authority (KNQA). If the student’s academic documents do not show evidence of English language as a language of instruction, then the candidate shall be required to do an English proficiency course of TEAU before enrolling for the programme.

Bachelor of Business and information Technology

Admission Requirements

Admission to the Bachelor of Business Information Technology programme shall be based on merit criteria as determined by the University Senate in line with the Commission for University Education’s guidelines

Criteria

Admission to Bachelor of Business Information Technology programmes shall be through;

  • Direct entry
  • Entries vide diploma criteria (from recognized institutions).

Direct Entry

The minimum requirement for direct entry shall be C+ for 8-4-4 system (KCSE)

or its equivalent and a minimum of C in both Mathematics and English.

Two principles passes at “A” level (KACE) and 1 subsidiary pass with  a minimum of a credit pass in Mathematics and English at KCSE.

Entry via Diploma Criteria

  • The minimum requirement for entry through the Diploma Entry Scheme shall be diploma in the relevant discipline or its equivalent notably in BIT, Computer Science or Business Administration from recognized institutions.
  • The duration of the Diploma must not have been less than one year.

 

Bachelor of Computer Science & Information Technology

Admissions To the Program

Admission to the Bachelor of Computer Science and Information Technology programme shall be through either direct entry or entries vide diploma criteria (from recognized institutions).

Direct Entry

  • The minimum requirement for direct entry shall be a mean grade of C+ in the 8-4-4 Education System with at least a C+ in English, Physics and Mathematics or its equivalent
  • Two Principles pass at “A” level with Credit pass in English, Physics and Mathematics or its equivalent

Entry Vide Diploma Criteria

The minimum requirement for entry through the Diploma Entry Scheme shall be diploma in the relevant discipline or its equivalent notably in IT or Computer Science from recognized institutions. The duration of the Diploma must not have been less than one year.

 

Bachelor of Education (Arts)

Admission Requirements

In addition to the minimum university admission requirements as determined by the University Senate in line with the Commission for University Education guidelines, applicants for the Bachelor of Education (Science) programme must have:

  1. A minimum of C+ for 8-4-4 system (KCSE) or its equivalent. Two principal passes at “A” Level (KACE) and 1 subsidiary pass
  2. A C+ grade or above in the two teaching subjects;

OR

  1. A minimum of two (2) Principal passes in each of the two teaching subjects;

OR

  1. A recognized Diploma in Education (Arts) with at least two years teaching experience and a mean grade of C (Plain) at KCSE or equivalent.

 

Diplomas

Admission requirements

A mean grade of C-(minus) and above in KCSE, certificates from recognized institutions or professional certificates from examining bodies e.g KNEC, ACCA, KASNEB etc. ‘A’ level 2 principles passes & 5 credits at ‘O’ level or grade III.

However, diploma in Education (ARTS), a minimum of C+ for 8-4-4 system (KCSE) or its equivalent. Two principal passes at “A” Level (KACE) and 1 subsidiary pass

  1. A C+ grade or above in the two teaching subjects;

OR

iii.            A minimum of two (2) Principal passes in each of the two teaching subjects;
