The Annual Prayer day at The East African University took place on 23 rd Jan 2024 at the Social
hall from 10.am to 2.00pm which also served as a Memorial service following the loss of two
students that occurred at the begging of semester.
Phanice Omayo Nyamoita,4 th year student school of Education died on 3 rd Jan 2024 after a short
illness and 2 days later TEAU was hit with yet another loss of a student named Kisu Toash
Mbuya, 4 th year student school of Business.Mr.Kisu passed on after he suffered a head injury
during a football match. He was a passionate football player and represented the University at
different tournaments.
The service was presided over by Christian Union Patron Rev.Dr.Enid Wekesa and the Christian
Union team thereafter a few remarks from the Vice Chancellor,Prof.Marcelin Kitambala,Deputy
Vice Chancellor ,Prof Thomas Senaji and Madam Emily Sinkeet ,Dean of students. This was
followed closely by tributes from various close friends and student leaders.
As the service came to an end The Vice Chancellor led the candle lighting session, followed by
lecturers and other members of staff in memory of the fallen students.
